An Evening with Dr. Diane Vecchio

April 11 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

Enjoy a special evening with Dr. Diane Vecchio as she shares stories from her recently published book, Peddlers, Merchants, and Manufacturers: How Jewish Entrepreneurs Built Economy and Community in Upcountry South Carolina.

Join us Thursday, April 11, at 5:30 p.m. for drinks and light hors d’oeuvres with Dr. Diane Catherine Vecchio, author and recently retired Furman University professor of history. Working with a rich set of oral histories, memoirs, and traditional historical documents, Dr. Vecchio will discuss Jewish community development and how Jewish business leaders also became civic leaders and affected social, political, and cultural life in what we now call the Upcountry. Dr. Vecchio’s book provides a new and essential examination of Jewish textile and clothing manufacturers.

The evening will be an enlightening opportunity to get a closer look at how the Jewish community influenced all facets of life across the Upstate and why that influence has been so significant to the growth of today’s Spartanburg-Greenville corridor.

Each ticket reservation includes two, complimentary drinks tickets.

Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. with the program beginning at 6:00 p.m.

$20 for UHM Members | $25 for all other guests

Light hors d’oeuvres with tea, beer, and wine will be provided by Chef360 Catering.

Reservations are required to attend this program. Dr. Vecchio’s book will be available for purchase from the Museum’s Gift Shop.
