Northern African American Soldiers in the American Civil War

Dr. Holly Pinheiro Jr. is an assistant professor of  African American history at Furman University and the recipient of the Furman University Humanities Center Book Development Grant. His research focuses on the intersectionality of race, class, and gender in the United States military during the Civil War and World War I. His latest book explores the experiences of African American soldiers and their families during the American Civil War.
