Topic: Stories of Struggle: The Clash over Civil Rights in South Carolina
In her newest book, Stories of Struggle, longtime journalist Claudia Smith Brinson chronicles twenty pivotal years of petitioning, picketing, boycotting, marching, and holding sit-ins. Through her extensive research and interviews with more than one hundred fifty civil rights activists, Brinson will share intimate stories of courage and conviction that highlight the progress achieved by nonviolent activism while also revealing the often violent resistance to change.
Program will be offered virtually and in-person (through Zoom presentation) at the Museum. In-person attendance for the Zoom presentation is strongly encouraged.
Lunchbox Learning is free for UHM Members.
Cost for non-members is $5.00 per virtual attendee and general admission for on-site attendees.
