As a continuous source of innovation\, motorsports have been heavily supported by automotive manufacturers for over a century. As the automotive industry invests billions of dollars to produce both electrified and autonomous vehicles it is important for the survival of motorsports that they remain at the forefront of these technologies. This talk will provide a look into recent projects at the Clemson University – International Center for Automotive Research and around the world that are helping to shape the future of motorsports. DESCRIPTION:America’s Industrial Revolution\nPresented by Mr.  Jim Saunders\nA young America quickly developed the extraordinary ability to manufacture complex products for the masses. That egalitarian trend accelerated through each successive decade as industries continued to introduce more products\, added value\, higher volumes\, and greater affordability. The process worked despite many cultural obstacles to rapid technological changes. This lecture follows that industrial progression up to and through the Great Depression\, which was a time when there were both remarkable new technologies and unprecedented cultural opposition to economic growth. The lesser-told story of the 1930s is that despite long-term high unemployment and an abysmal business climate\, the decade was the most productive in history to that point. By the time normalcy returned after the war\, the American economy had turned modern. \nJim’s career spanned 40 years as a manufacturing engineer with experience in the automotive\, aerospace\, power transmission\, and other industries with a primary expertise in precision machine design and analyzing the efficient flow of goods across the factory floor. With so many forgotten and overlooked battles\, Ashmore has not only brought the history back to life\, but has also explained the historical context and significance to events that are happening today.\nJoin Durant Ashmore on the evening of Wednesday\, December 7\, for a special program on the role of alcohol in the Revolutionary War. A somewhat humorous\, somewhat serious discussion about how alcohol influenced the creation of our grand experiment.\n\nEach ticket reservation will include two\, complimentary drink tickets.
