He later moved to the Waxhaws region of South Carolina and rose to military acclaim during the Cherokee War. During the American Revolution\, he commanded a three-hundred-man South Carolina militia through multiple battles across the South\, including the Battle of Cowpens\, Siege of Ninety-Six\, and the Battle of Eutaw Springs. \nDr. Rod Andrew Jr. is a professor of history and Alumni Master Teacher at Clemson University and a retired Colonel in the United States Marine Corps Reserve.
