Symphony Insight with Caroline Ulrich

Mark your calendars for our upcoming Symphony Insight with Caroline Ulrich on March 1 from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM at the Upcountry History Museum. Caroline has crafted a guided tour to introduce Concerto for Flute by C.P.E BACH with demonstrations from the flute.

Join us on Friday, March 10 at 7:30 PM, Saturday, March 11 at 7:30 PM, and Sunday, March 12 at 3:00 PM at Gunter Theater to hear Caroline Ulrich play with the Greenville Symphony Orchestra. The program includes C.P.E BACH: Concerto for Flute and SHCHEDRIN: Carmen Suite.

 

Caroline Ulrich Biography

Principal flutist of the Greenville Symphony, Caroline Ulrich enjoys an extensive orchestral performing career in North and South Carolina. Previously, Maestro Edvard Tchivzhel selected her to perform Mozart’s Flute Concerto in G Major, Lukas Foss’s Renaissance Concerto, the Ibert Concerto, JS Bach’s Suite in b minor, and Mozart’s Concerto for Flute and Harp, with John Wickey.

Caroline also performs with the Spartanburg Philharmonic, South Carolina Philharmonic, Asheville Symphony Orchestra, and Rock Hill Philharmonic. Previous appointments include the Springfield Symphony (IL), Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony, and Augusta (GA) Opera. Dr. Ulrich is on the faculty of Furman University. Previously she was the flute instructor at SC Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities, Luther College, and Clemson University.

Along with Carla Copeland Burns, Erinn Frechette, and Amy Orsinger Whitehouse, Caroline Ulrich is a founding member of FLUTE4. The group champions new works for the flute quartet and performs throughout the Southeast and Midwest. She is also active with Lillian Buss Pearson, piano, as a collaborative recitalist.

When not performing, Caroline enjoys hiking, gardening, reading, cooking, eating(!), and visiting art museums.
