Ellison Capers: The Soldier Bishop

This exhibition by Faith Memorial Chapel of Cedar Mountain, NC, tells the life story of Rt. Reverend Ellison Capers, an educator, soldier, slaveholder, statesman, and Chancellor of the University of the South.

Children will examine Ellison Capers’ legacy through artifacts on loan from the American Civil War museum, while also exploring some of the battles he served in during the Civil War. Also highlighted will be his service as Bishop of the Diocese of South Carolina and his direct connection to Christ Church and Faith Chapel.
