History of the Week – Greenville’s Civil Rights Movement

This brief, yet powerful video highlights some of the student activists who led protests here in Greenville County, as they discuss the hardships they overcame in their stand against inequality. The history of Greenville’s Civil Rights Movement certainly made an impact on our community, but also effected change across the state and even the nation.
Protests, Prayers & Progress: Greenville’s Civil Rights Movement was a 2014 temporary exhibition. It is now a permanent gallery on our second floor and houses several oral histories from local activists.
