Historic Grave Sites: Greenville’s Textile Mill Cemeteries

Presented by Gregory McKee

Cemeteries preserve lasting memories of both people and places. Gregory McKee will explore the historic textile mill cemeteries of Greenville, South Carolina; sharing the stories behind several of the region’s once-thriving mills. This program sheds light on the often-overlooked cemeteries connected to these mill villages, their history, the challenges of preservation, and ongoing efforts to honor and maintain them. Join us for an insightful look into Greenville’s industrial past, community heritage, and the people who shaped the area’s textile legacy.

Gregory McKee shares the histories of the Greenville community and the surrounding areas. He has spent thirty years working for local branches of the YMCA and continues to serve the community of Greenville today. Mr. McKee’s research on historic cemeteries has been shared at preservation conferences and workshops across the state.
